Free Kentucky Parolee Lookup
Find out if someone you know or love was released from prison on parole in Kentucky, free of charge.

Conducting a free Kentucky parole search allows anyone to access offender’s information, check incarceration status, expand one’s knowledge about the state’s correctional system and more.

Parole is the conditional release of law offenders before the completion of their entire sentence after serving time in prison. It is granted as an early-release option for inmates who agree to comply with behavioral guidelines and will be supervised while serving the community as part of their remaining sentence.

On the other hand, probation is a privilege of freedom permitted by the court that allows law offenders to remain in the community and under supervision, instead of being sent to prison.

Through this resource, citizens can find information on parolees, parole violators, absconders, probationers, hearings, and supervision officers within the state of Kentucky.

How To Look Up Inmates in a Kentucky State Prison

Locating someone under custody starts with knowing the right resources and ways to conduct a search.

In Kentucky, inmate information is publicly accessible. However, the availability may vary depending on the policies and procedures enforced by the prison. The Kentucky Department of Corrections (KDOC) operates 14 correctional facilities that housed inmates convicted of felony offenses.5

There are several options available that allow the public to look up inmate’s information within the State Prisons.

The most convenient method is through the Kentucky Online Offender Lookup (KOOL). This free tool is maintained by the KDOC.

To start your search, provide the offender’s last, first, and middle name. If you prefer to see only those offenders with photos, click on the “Search Offenders with Photos Only” checkbox. While, if you want to include the offenders aliases, click on the “Search Aliases” checkbox.

For more specific options to search, click on “Show Advanced Options” to view additional search fields, including offender type, DOC number, offender status, conviction information, abscond date and release date. Provide the information required, then click “Search Data” to perform the search.

Search results show a list of inmates incarcerated within the State Prisons, with the offender’s full name, current location, PID no. or DOC no., and offense counts. Click on the specific offender’s name to view more detailed information.

If you want to connect to someone incarcerated in the Kentucky State Prison, you can do so by visiting the facility in person, or sending an email via the US postal service.

Note: The public cannot directly call an inmate; instead, they must wait to receive calls from them.

In Kentucky, only inmates can initiate all phone calls. However, if it is necessary or in emergency cases, you can call the department at 606.337.7065.

Sending money, on the other hand, can be done online. (Follow the instructions on the link provided.)

The KDOC also partnered with VINE (Victim Information and Notification Everyday), a statewide victims notification system. This system allows registered individuals to receive notifications if the subject or offender is released or escaped in prisons.

How To Find Information on Supervising Officers & Parole Hearings in Kentucky

In Kentucky, individuals who are convicted of a crime and are sentenced to prison can be granted an opportunity to be released, before the end of their sentence.

The state offers parole to eligible individuals, wherein offenders are released into their communities under the supervision of parole officers. Offenders under supervision must adhere to specific terms and conditions set by the board.

If you need to know who is the parole officer responsible for overseeing parolees in the state, reach out to the Kentucky Department of Corrections’ Division of Probation and Parole.

Kentucky has 551 sworn supervision officers and 43 class D parole officers, as of December 2022. To search for supervision officers, you can start by contacting the 20 District Parole Supervisor. (Click on the link provided to view the contact information of parole supervisors in each district.)

How To Complete a Kentucky Probationer Search at No Cost

Similar to finding parolee information, probation records can also be accessed by the public. The word “Parole” and “Probation” are used interchangeably by the public as they both involve supervision.

For clarity, parole refers to an offender’s early release from prison and remains under supervision until the end of their sentence, while probation is granted by the court or judge as an alternative to incarceration. Probation allows offenders to remain in the community from the start, but under supervision and must follow specific terms and conditions. If the subject violates those terms, they can be placed in custody.

Probation records can be found from local agencies to state custodians. Information about individuals under probation can also be searched through the Kentucky Online Offender Lookup (KOOL), a tool provided by the State’s Department of Corrections.

This statewide tool is searchable by the offender’s full name or PID/DOC no. To search specifically for probationer information, click on the “Show Advanced Options” then select “Probation Offenders” from the “Offender Type” field. You can also add filters for a more accurate result.

The search results will provide a list of matching records. Click on the probationer’s name to view more detailed information such as physical description, particular offender’s current supervision status, assigned probation office, supervision period, conviction information and offender’s photo.

For more accurate information contact the Kentucky Probation & Parole Districts. The Kentucky Department of Corrections’ website offers a Map of the State’s Probation & Parole Offices.10
